Lauren & Dardan’s destination wedding at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota was one word – gorgeous! From her amazing dress, to her paper goods and cheery florals -it was the perfect garden wedding! Beyond the pretty though – what I loved most was the intimacy and tradition.
Dardan and his family are from Kosovo, so they incorporated much of his Albanian heritage into their wedding day. Their ceremony was in both English and Albanian – translated by his best man- his brother. Lauren, even recited her vows in both Albanian and English – really well too! The dual ceremony actually led do a REALLY funny memory. Grace Felice who officiated their ceremony said the traditional “you may kiss your bride,” and so they did. Well, since it was a dual language ceremony – his brother then followed up with the same sentiment in Albanian – so after everyone laughed – they kissed again! Look for the pic below of them looking at his brother and all laughing – it’s priceless! My absolute most favorite moment of the night though, was when Lauren changed into a traditional Albanian wedding dress. Not just any dress though – one that has been in Dardan’s family for over 100 years and worn by all of the women in his family. The dress has been through several wars and has survived in perfect condition. If you could have seen it up close – oh my – it was so intricately beaded and beautiful. Not just beautiful though, extremely sentimental and steeped in tradition and heritage.
We wish you two all the best – and hope you had an amazing honeymoon in Guatemala!
