Emma & Derek’s Fort Myers White Orchid at Oasis wedding was absolutely perfect, however their day had its share of crazy weather moments – but from their loving smiles you’d never know.
One of Emma’s biggest fears (and most brides really) was rain for her outdoor wedding (I mean this IS Florida) – and rain it did. I think rain would probably be the understatement of the year though. It poured and poured and poured on their wedding day – BUT…when it came time for their outdoor reception the rain had completely ceased, the sun even poked its head out and the entire evening was absolute perfection. Truly, you’d never have known just an hour before it had rained. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck – I think Emma & Derek earned about 2 lifetimes of it in the span of about an hour! :)
Emma is a true true beauty. She absolutely glowed on her wedding day as all brides do, but when you know her – it’s Emma’s inner beauty that shines the loudest. I can see why when Derek very first met her, he never ever let go. There were too many amazingly moving and precious moments during their wedding day to count – but some of my absolute favorite moment from their day were: when they were presented with a signed and framed marriage blessing from THE Pope himself. Yes – THE POPE. I doubt many people will have one of those gracing their walls. And it’s no secret that Cody & I have a love affair with North Carolina (we used to live there – if you don’t know -lol), and Emma’s family has property up there. Her dad loving collected tree limbs and branches from their property and built them their wedding alter. Not only was it beautiful – it was immensely meaningful, and THAT to me is the best kind of gift. While Emma was getting ready Derek had a gift for her. He handmade a beautiful wooden box to house “their” new Bible, engraved with “The Patricks” and their wedding date. I was a mess of tears behind the camera, Emma lost it – it was a total beautiful tear-fest. Lastly, if you follow us on Instagram – I posted an iPhone picture of their “first touch” at the church – which got a zillion ‘likes.” I was truly moved capturing that moment. The minute Emma felt Derek’s hand she teared up, their prayed with one another for the blessing on their marriage and it was really amazing. Sweet little touches, moments, memories like these – THIS is what Cody & I live for as wedding photographers.
From their first touch to their first dance their love was undeniable all day. We wish you two a lifetime of happiness, I think the rain took care of all the good luck! :) Congrats Emma & Derek!
